Why we built Graffiti Spot

The work is already out there on the street. Graffiti Spot just puts it on a map — so you can find the good walls, see what went up this week, follow the writers behind it, and get to the next jam.

For the scene, not for tourists

Plenty of apps map finished murals for people passing through. This one is different: it's a tool for the people who actually paint. That means the things writers care about are first-class here —

• Legal status — legal walls, tolerated grey-areas, fresh burners, halls of fame. Color always paired with a label, never color alone.
• Life status — walls get buffed, capped, gone over. That's graffiti. We track alive / buffed / gone separately from the legal status, because a wall's story doesn't end when the paint does.
• The archive — the same wall through the years. Buffed never means lost.

Privacy is non-negotiable

The scene is wary of surveillance, and rightly so. So the rules are simple: location metadata is stripped from the photos we store, we never ask for real names or numbers, everyone is just a handle, and anything that exposes someone's identity gets auto-hidden the moment it's reported.

That's the whole point — a place to log and share the walls without putting anyone on blast.
